Grizzly Bear Blues - Senior Staff Writer
February 2022 - Present
I was a diehard Memphis Grizzlies fan growing up, so I was ecstatic when I was offered the position as a senior staff writer for Grizzly Bear Blues. The site is the official SBNation blog of the Memphis Grizzlies and has a similar format to InsideNU, where I was already writing. As a senior staff writer, I am tasked with coverage of the 82-game NBA season, as well as features about the team. West Kentucky Star - Newsroom Intern
Summer 2020
After graduating high school , I worked at the West Kentucky Star, a local news station. As an intern at the station, I wrote for the Star's website and recorded clips for the radio station. I often wrote about police reports and upcoming events in the area. At the station, there was an urgency to publish timely information and I got experience working in a high-pressure environment.
It was here where I got my first experience on radio. Below is one of my voicers from my time at the West Kentucky Star.
WPSD Local 6
June 2023 - September 2023
After my sophomore year of high school, I returned to my hometown of Paducah, Kentucky where I worked as a sports reporter for WPSD Local 6, my regional NBC affiliate. I learned the ins and outs of a newsroom, as well as the behind-the-scenes of camerawork. I traveled throughout the area interviewing coaches, athletes, families, and anyone who else would talk to me. I learned how to use EDIUS and began to edit together packages. When the high school football season started, I made my live on-air debut. I anchored for the station's "Gridiron Glory" high school football show on Friday nights. February 2022 - Present
I joined North by Northwestern, Northwestern University's student magazine, in the spring of my sophomore year. For the spring magazine, I wrote the cover story: a profile on Northwestern basketball star Boo Buie. I already had experience writing this style of story after I wrote a profile on a local star which was published in Paducah Life Magazine. The six-page profile on Boo Buie is my favorite piece I have written and I look forward to writing more for NBN throughout college.
